Life certainly didn’t begin this way though…

I grew up in Torrance, California, near the beach. I was a reserved child who felt like a fish out of water for most of my childhood. Through my adventures deep in the pages of many, many books and in the sanctity of my imagination, I truly came alive. I learned my courage, depth, natural tendency towards expansion and heart would help me break free of my patterns and limitations to create a life I didn’t even know existed then. I sang in the church choir and performed on cruise ships, then went to a boarding school in Paradise Valley, Arizona. There, I became a champion high school rodeo barrel racer and went on to train “problem” horses using natural horsemanship practices.  

When I met my Colorado cowboy soulmate, Brent, we were married within six months and are still madly in love after 23 years. The road hasn’t necessarily been smooth, especially with me experiencing a series of miscarriages before finally giving birth to three boys in 3 years. Motherhood is one of the foundations of my journey and of the work I do today. But I’m getting ahead of myself. 

My husband and I started and still own a construction company we have successfully run together for over 20 years. I was a doula and childbirth educator and even went back to college to get my midwifery degree before I realized that I didn’t want to be away from my three toddlers that much. 

One day, at my chiropractor’s office, I met a mama who felt like a kindred spirit. She was the only shamanic crystal singing bowls teacher in the States at the time and she approached me about working with her. I knew nothing about shamanism or sound healing; I knew only a little about energy healing. But what I knew with absolute certainty was that I was drawn to this world. I did a sound healing session with this woman and felt like my soul had finally come into my body, like I was home. The next weekend I did her first level intensive training, ordered a whole set of crystal singing bowls, and began working privately with her. Not long after that, I started my own healing practice. I also discovered essential oils and plant medicines and got degrees in them. I started a healing practice and opened three herbal stores in two different towns as well as online, which I named Indigo Moon Botanicals. 

In amongst all this, I started learning about the Law of Attraction and ended up reading thousands of personal development books. I took multiple courses at a time. I craved knowledge and direction, now that I finally found myself in my element. What stood out most for me, after all this learning, was that much of it was simply regurgitation of information and spiritual feel-good hype. Many of the teachers wanted to be all powerful gurus for money and reinforced the dogma of systems including LOA. 

I had mentored women since high school and knew I was meant to help more women than I could in our tiny mountain town of Hesperus. I started a healing center, led seasonal and moon cycle ceremonies, and began speaking at events. I started a YouTube channel with singing bowl healings and manifestation consciousness talks and was on 60 plus summits as well as holding multiple summits of my own, including the Money Mindset Makeover Summit which reached over half a million people. I became an international best-selling author with the first book I co-authored, Wild Woman Rising, with two more coming out in 2021 (Intuitive, March; Sacred Rebel, May). This inspired me to open my own publishing house called Kiva Publishing. When I dream, I dream big. And I’m proud of my determination to achieve those dreams, because I know I have the gifts needed by so many New Earth feminine leaders who are ready to rise to their highest potential.

Over the years, I successfully homeschooled my three boys while running businesses, growing my mind, and nourishing my soul. Fourteen years after the birth of the youngest of those three sons, I gave birth to a fourth son who has multiple food allergies topped with sensory processing disorders, giftedness and sleeping challenges. We own a historic ranch in the Four Corners area of southwestern Colorado, where the high desert meets the Rocky Mountains right in the center of four sacred sites. My spirit feels at home here and I spend most days homeschooling my “Golden Child” kindergartener, empowering moms, trying to keep up with my three adult boys and their businesses, and cooking nourishing meals for my family.
