Why You Need To Set Your Goals

What do you want this year?

Do you know how you are going to get to those things?

Are you tired of wanting the things you want and those things always being “out there”, or out of reach?

I was a chronic goal resister. I hated setting goals and felt like it was a weight… until I actually tried it. One day I set a couple small goals and before I knew it the opportunities I was looking for showed up. Then, I started to think and read about goal setting. I found out there are some pretty important reasons to set your goals.

It’s easy to procrastinate goal setting for the year. But do you know that writing down your goals and looking over them at least once a week increases your chances of getting what you want by 95%?

Isn’t it interesting that the super successful, super wealthy people make up the 3 to 5% of the population who set goals? The more you look at the numbers, the more you realize there might be something to the whole goal setting thing.

Here’s why you need to set your goals right now:

Get Your Subconscious Mind On Board. First, just focusing on what you want, making the decision and writing it on paper tells your subconscious mind to get ready for change. There’s so much to getting your subconscious mind on board with what you want. Almost all your resistance and mental safety mechanisms which prevent change come from getting your subconscious mind to shift and allow what you want.

Believe What You Want Is Possible. Second, having a plan of action helps you see your goals can become a reality. How are you really going to believe what you want is possible without seeing that there is a path to get there. When you lay out a goal and then create a plan of action to get there, you make it more real and more believable and therefore more attainable.

Unleash Your Creativity. Third, your creativity and problem solving capabilities can be engaged when you know what you’re working toward. Your mind will start figuring out how to get what you want even while you sleep! Instead of not knowing where you are wanting to go and your creativity being wasted on the 5,000 ways you can’t get what you want, why not use all your creativity to figure out removing the obstacles in your way?

Engage Your Heart. Your heart has the strongest electro-magnetic pull in your body, so it’s great to be in alignment with what you love and be clear about what it is you really want when you’re working on bringing change and opportunities in to your life. I know engaging your heart seems like a no brainer, but you would be surprised how many times you talk yourself into something that you think you want, instead of things you really want. When you set a goal you really want, it feels different and will be easier to achieve with real motivation behind it.

Allow The Universe To Help. Lastly, one of my favorite sayings is, “Follow your bliss, and the Universe will open doors for you where there were only walls”, by Joseph Campbell. There are all kinds of unseen helpers and synchronicities created when you ask the Universe for help. Help can come in the form of sending you guides, creating opportunities you didn’t see coming, meeting the right people you need in a certain situation, or even something coming into your awareness that you need to shift your resistance or give you that extra bit of motivation to move forward. The trick is to ask for help and to expect it to show up in your life.

SO, get a pen and paper, set a time frame of when your goals will be completed, and get going on your goals.

Don’t wait, don’t stay in the same place of wanting and wishing – IT WON’T GET YOU ANYWHERE!

The only way to move forward is to actually set your goals, work through your resistance and keep going when you want to give up!

I want to see you succeed and have whatever it is what you want – set those goals!
